This beloved restaurant brings a fresh and lively café atmosphere, where bright interiors hum with the cheerful energy of skilled baristas crafting each beverage to perfection, while the option to sit alfresco invites you to enjoy the quintessential New York pastime of people-watching.

Banter NYC’s menu is a delightful journey through both traditional and inventive dishes, capturing the essence of Australian café culture with a modern twist. Must-tries include their renowned Banter Big Breakfast, a hearty and satisfying start to the day that combines farm-fresh ingredients with impeccable seasoning, and the Smoked Salmon Toast, where silky, smoked salmon layers atop perfectly toasted bread, complemented by fresh herbs and creamy textures that create a sublime balance of flavors. Their Flat White with Oatly is a standout — a velvety symphony of rich espresso and smooth oat milk that perfectly illustrates their commitment to quality and inclusiveness, offering dairy-free options without compromise. Other specialties like the Pistachio Mocha with crunchy topping and the bold yet balanced Cortado elevate the coffee experience beyond the ordinary.

Sweet tooths will find themselves enchanted by house-made treats such as the Nutella Stuffed French Toast, a luscious blend of Nutella and fresh berries dusted with just the right amount of powdered sugar, delivering a decadent yet joyful indulgence. The House Made Granola and Overnight Oats also cater to health-conscious guests without sacrificing flavor or texture.

By far one of my favorite places for brunch. You can’t go wrong with the Banter Big Breakfast and a Green Vitality juice - that’s our go to every time we visit. Staff is always friendly and efficient in service.

This is the typical relaxed brunch spot that has all the amazing food and makes you happy each time you go. Great selection for brunch with creative juices, coffee, traditional dishes and healthy options. A great plus for gluten free and dairy free modifications making most of the menu available for people with food allergies.

Banter in the West Village has officially become one of my comfort spots in the city. The space is bright and relaxed, with that easy Australian café energy and a steady hum of conversation that feels very neighborhood in the best way. You can sit inside and watch the baristas work or grab a sidewalk table and people watch your way through brunch. The matcha is fantastic here, smooth and well balanced without being too grassy or too sweet, and the ginger tangerine tea is exactly what I want on a chilly day, fragrant, citrusy, and soothing. The kale and avo salad with grilled chicken is a standout, hearty enough for a full meal yet still light, with quinoa, creamy avocado, and a sweet and spicy dressing that ties everything together. The avocado toast with a perfectly poached egg hits all the right notes, great sourdough, generous avo, and that runny yolk situation that makes every bite better. A side of bacon is crispy, smoky, and very shareable, although you may not want to. Service is friendly and efficient, even when it is busy, and it feels like the team genuinely cares about the experience. Knowing that Banter is now employee owned makes the hospitality make even more sense, there is pride in how everything comes out of the kitchen and how guests are treated. If you are in the West Village and craving a great matcha, a bright tea, and fresh, thoughtful food, Banter should be on your short list.

My friend and I spent 63 (without a tip) for two Nutella French toasts, one portion of sweet potato fries with spicy mayo, apple cider and orange juice. Sweet potato fries were good but the thing that made them amazing was the spicy mayo! Apple cider was great, French toast was awesome. Strawberries tasted a little weird but maybe it’s because it’s not strawberry season. I would highly recommend to the owner to give out more syrup for the French toast as it would make it less dry (it wasn’t dry dry but it would make it more tasteful). Employees were nice and when we came without reservation they told us it’ll be a 45 minutes wait and we barely waited 15.

Batner NYC is a lovely spot in the West Village. The food is fresh, creative, and comforting. Everything we ordered was delicious. The only thing that was kinda off for me personally- my Golden latte was not exactly hot, some people call it “kid-temp” but for me it’s simply lukewarm. So if you like your coffee hot - make sure you mention it. The atmosphere was very pleasant and service great without trying too hard. Would happily come back.

Good and tasty food, nice spot. We were able to get a table for 2 within a 10 minutes wait on a Sunday morning. Service was fast. Had an enjoyable experience. Somewhat pricy and I hope the quality and origin of the ingredients justifies it.

Great service, great breakfast, and a sunny and busy Hudson st is just ace. The flat white was excellent, as were the perfectly cooked poached eggs

Food is amazing here. The sweet potato fries are a highlight! Walk in only so you might need to wait some time to be seated
